You can teach your baby to read with or without a bunch of fancy products, but there are some essentials that parents must have to make it easy and fun.
Whether or not you invest in a reading kit to teach your baby, there are other products that make teaching babies to read a snap. They aren't necessarily designed for that purpose, but they are incredibly helpful.
ABC Blocks
Alphabet blocks are a great way to add some reading to your baby's play. Babies have been playing with blocks for longer than we know, but when we add these handy toys with the knowledge that babies can learn to read, we have an incredible tool. Parents can use block building time to reinforce words that have already been taught, teach rhyming concepts and new words.
Foam Letters and Numbers
Foam letters and numbers can be used in the bath to continue letter and word play with your little one. The larger letters available are great for babies to play with in and out of the tub. When your baby is sitting and playing on the floor you can play with letters and words, making it interactive with your child. Have your baby help you form new words. You may need more than one set of letters so you have enough letters to form words.
Magnetic Board and Letters
Having magnetic letters has been invaluable in my house. You can keep them on the fridge or purchase a magnetic board to place them on. You can create all kinds of words and sentences on demand. They encourage the teaching of new words and games, and if in a central location can be used many times throughout the day. There are companies that sell very large letters, which are perfect for small babies.
Dry Erase Board or Chalk Board
Parents can easily create quick couplets, phrases and sentences on demand with either of these boards. You can write all kinds of words and sentences about your baby's day in just seconds with a handy board. You can change your notes frequently without having to prepare new materials.
