Tips for Leaving the House With Twins and Multiples

When you have kids, it's important to be organized. When you have twins it's even more important. Having all of your baby products packed in diaper bags and ready to go means you are getting out the house easier. Make sure that you have packed some things for yourself too.

The first thing you need to pack is food. Generally people just stick the food for baby right in the diaper bag. But that's not always practical. Instead, try packing bottles, juice, or food for older kids in insulated lunch bags that you that sit right up front with you. This can save your sanity, and maybe your hearing, when your twins are in the back crying. It also saves you time, since you aren't digging around trying to find the stuff in your bags. Another time saver is to prepare a freezer bag packed full of everything you will need for one diaper change. Make up a couple of quick change bags for each of your twins. You won't have to search for diapers when your infant is crying. Plus, you can seal the dirty diaper up and throw it away.

Having multiples can be challenging, and making sure that you have everything you need in advance makes it easier. Another thing that you should keep in your pre-packed bags is at least 2 receiving blankets. Blankets are a great multi-use product, and they really don't take up a lot of room. The next thing that should be in your bag is some Tylenol or Advil. You will get a headache, especially when you are shopping with your twins and any other kids you might have. Keeping some headache medicine and water to take it with will save you from that.

As a parent to twins, you are often running 3 or 4 ways all at the same time. You might not always have the time to eat something. This can lead to your having a headache or getting grumpy from low blood sugar. Keeping something like raisins, trail mix, granola bars or a banana around can help you fight that off. Plus, it saves you from going to the store hungry.

The next suggestion isn't something that you can pack ahead of time, but it will save you time and organization. Make a list, and make sure that you have it with you. Trying to remember what you wanted when you are at the store with 2 babies who are crying is next to impossible. Also make sure that your clothes have pockets in them. Putting stuff in a diaper bag is great, but you want for your wallet and keys easily accessible, as well as a couple of pacifiers. Your list fits right in there too.

Some of these things you can put into a diaper bag or 2 that are always in your car. Things like the diaper kits, blankets, toys, and nonperishable snacks that are already in the car means you only have a couple things to grab to be ready.
