Tamanu Oil - Homemade Skin Care

Tamanu oil comes from trees grown on the islands of the South Pacific. These trees called, calophyllum inophyllum, have branches covered with shiny, dark green, leaves and small white flowers. They bear fruit, approximately, the size of an apricot. Inside their fruit is a large nut hull with blond colored kernels. The kernels are removed and dried on a rack, for approximately one month. Through this drying time, the kernels begin to change color. Instead of being blond they turn to a deep chocolate brown color. While drying, the kernels, also, develop a dark green, sticky, substance. This substance is pressed from the kernels resulting in rich, thick and luxurious tamanu oil. This natural oil has a sweet, pleasant, scent.

Tamanu oil has been studied by researchers in Asia, Europe and the Pacific Islands for many years. They discovered that this natural oil has many, healthful, benefits! Tamanu oil is used a variety of ways.

It is great for treating lots of skin concerns including: eczema, psoriasis, dry skin, cracked skin, scars, acne, and stretch marks.
